Frequently Asked Questions
Hello Montevideo Parents, Teachers and Friends,
Here is some information about “An Evening at the Races" Montevideo Derby Gala and answers to frequently asked questions:
How Do I Get Into Crow Canyon Country Club?
The Club address is 711 Silver Lake Drive in Danville. There is a security kiosk at the Crow Canyon Country Club entrance. Just pull up to the kiosk and let the guard know you are there for the event at the Club. After he/she admits you, drive a block or so and the Club will be on the left.
Do I Need a Physical Ticket?
No, your ticket is virtual. If you purchased a ticket, your name will be on a list when you check in at the event.
What Time Should I Be There?
The auction gala will begin at 6:00 pm. Seating for dining is “open” so you will want to get there early to ensure you get a seat to your liking.
What Should I Wear?
Dress to impress (or not, no pressure!) For the ladies, Derby attire typically consists of a big hat or fascinator (decorated headband) paired with your favorite spring fashion: think cocktail dress, sundress, or even pantsuit. For the men, don a tie, seersucker, or your best preppy attire. Really, anything goes, as Derby fashion can range from elegant & sophisticated to casual & whacky.
Can I Invite Friends or Family Members?
Absolutely! The more the merrier to help raise money for your child’s school!
How Will the Bar Be Stocked?
Crow Canyon Country Club’s full bar and two bartenders have just about anything you can dream up! The bar will also have available non-alcoholic drinks like soda and water. It will be a cash bar. The bar will accept cash, Visa or MasterCard, no bidder numbers. We will again have wine items available to bid on and you are welcome to enjoy the bottle that you purchased on site. The club will charge a modest $10 corkage fee.
What Will There Be To Eat?
Upon purchasing your ticket you’ll have the opportunity to choose your entrée of Steak with Whiskey Mushroom Sauce, Seared Prawn, or Ricotta with Spinach Ravioli. The evening also includes two different types of hand-passed hors d’oeuvres, a Mixed Salad, rolls & butter, and coffee or tea. Please alert one of the auction committee members when you check-in if you have any food allergies. For dessert, you will find a goodie bag at your place setting with a few bourbon balls to fulfill your sweet tooth or whet your appetite as you attempt to win a prized sweet course from our dessert auction. Please buy your tickets by April 15th to ensure your menu selections. For tickets purchased after April 15th, meals will be provided based on venue availability.
Will Teachers Be There?
Yes! More than 20 teachers, aides, staff and their guests will attend this year, and are highly anticipating chatting with you outside of school! As always, there will be a special auction item donated by our magnificent teachers.
What Is Fund-A-Need?
Fund-A-Need is a "last call" after the Live Auction to request cash donations to fund a specific school item. If you've been outbid on the Silent and Live Auction items, here is your chance to contribute! The auctioneer will be asking for donations at all monetary levels--no amount is too large or too small!
What Music Will We Be Dancing To?
Amos Productions will once again be providing us with the latest hits as we dance the night away.
How Do I Pay For Items?
You will be assigned a bidder number when you check in. You are highly encouraged to scan your credit card (VISA, MasterCard and Discover only) during check in to avoid delays during the checkout process. During the evening use your bidder number to play a game of Hot to Trot Punch Derby and the Home Stretch Pulley Race and silent and live auction items. At the end of the night, after the checkout desk has opened, you can review your bill and collect your winnings. If you choose NOT to scan your credit card at check in, you will be directed to another line where you may settle the bill via credit card, cash or check. All items must be paid for by the time you leave at the end of the evening. If you are planning only to pay by cash, please let the check in volunteers know when you arrive. Auction item check-out will begin 30 minutes following the closing of the Live Auction and Fund-A-Need.
Remember, Montevideo’s “An Evening at the Races” Montevideo Derby Gala is your chance to socialize with other Montevideo parents and raise funds for a really good cause—the educational enrichment of our children. So, encourage your friends to buy tickets and join you in the fund-raising and the fun! Ticket sales are available until April 20th and will NOT be sold at the door!
